Welcome to the Tiger's Lair
(This is a journal for a fictional character in a roleplaying game)

Ikki Ohtori is a Japanese expatriate living in Philadelphia, PA with his wife, Saki, and younger brother, Shun. The three co-own the Ohtori Dojo, where Ikki teaches karate.

All first-person entries written by Ikki himself should be assumed to be written in Japanese.

((OOC: This takes place following the August 27 tabletop session.))

Ikki stares at the cell phone in his hand for several seconds, then punches in a number. The phone on the other end rings twice, then he hears:

"Li and Ogiso. This is Jun; how may I help you?"

Ikki takes a deep breath, then replies in Japanese, "[Jun-chan. This is Ikki - Saki's husband?]"

...especially when you are fighting Kumo who spit fire. None of the ones we ever encountered back home could do that - perhaps this is some sort of Western were-spider ability? If that's so, we may be in big trouble - especially since we aren't at full strength.

I keep thinking that Kentaro would know how to handle things. I'm a Fist, not a Lantern - my job is to fight, not to lead. Shining-Claw-of-Rajah-sensei would say that I must not shirk the tasks the Mother has given me, but they've only been given to me because the one who was given them when Mongoose chose us is gone.

I still miss him and Tokiko - I know Shun and Saki do, too. Three trying to do the work of five doesn't work as well. But we need to try - they deserve no less.

And when I find the excrescence that killed them, I will bathe in its blood and feed its heart to their spirits....

Remodeling bathrooms is a great deal easier when one is blessed by the Emerald Mother. However, I would like to have words with the spirits of those who built this place - there is no room for a proper bath on the second floor.

So we are putting the ofuro on the third floor. Until then, we must use the shower, but the wait will be worth it.

I may have been too hasty being amused by the prospect of an omiai for Shun - apparently, Obasan and Ojisan also intend to have one for me.

I think I would rather face an army of bakemono than have to sit through an evening with a girl I barely know. Besides, I love Saki.

Perhaps I can plead bereavement...it would be better than spending the evening in a suit....

Listening to: Noriko-obachan on the phone
Ichiro-ojisan and Noriko-obachan are talking about arranging an omiai for Shun. I cannot wait to see the look on Little Brother's face when he finds out.

I only wish Kentaro and Tokiko were here to see it, too....
